Just a heads up to let you know I will be exhibiting Mulberry Street vintage outdoor furniture at the upcoming (March 3-7) Southern Spring Home and Garden Show in Charlotte, North Carolina (www.southernshows.com/sss). The furniture will be on display in the Studio Cleary (www.scla.carbonmade.com) exhibition booth.
Ted Cleary, ASLA, has come up with an incredible mid-century modern home and yard theme. The house facade he’s designed for the space is reminiscent of the Eichler style complete with a carport and fireplace. Look for the 2-toned blue ’57 Chevy Bel-Air sedan in the car port. This exhibit will be so much fun to see, not only for the great design, but also because of all the vintage props Ted has collected to use in it. I hope we’ll see you there. I’ll be blogging more about it later. Meanwhile enjoy these sites and thoughts of spring.

I Miss My Porch Glider
January 14th, 2010 — All Posts
I miss my time on our vintage porch glider. It has been soooo cold, even here in Charleston, SC, that I have only been enjoying our porches from the inside out. Going out to call the cats is about the extent of my porch life these days. But, it won’t be long until I’m back outside enjoying the beauty and comfort of our vintage porch furniture. The least bit of warmth will do the trick. Meanwhile, I’ve been thinking ahead about what I want to do new and exciting with Mulberry Street. Since porches and vintage porch furniture are my passions, I am starting another blog about them and everything related to them…fun, friends, events, relationships, nature, pets, and on and on. I don’t even know what all I’ll cover. I will be featuring interesting and unique porches from time to time as I come across them. I’m working on getting that started and will let you know where to find it and when it’s all ready to go. Continue reading →
Deco-Inspired Beauty

When I first laid eyes on this beautiful vintage porch glider, I really had to use my imagination as I often do when deciding whether to purchase a piece or leave it to rust away. It’s always a hard decision to leave one. A friend, her husband and I literally had to dig this glider from the earth before we realized that it could not even stand on its own two feet. Had it not been for the deco-inspired stylized detailing, I may have left it there at the roadside junk yard where we found it near Asheville, NC. As it was, I had my doubts. But I decided that the missing horizontal support bar could easily be replaced and so the 3 of us loaded it into the pickup. Continue reading →
