There are a lot of steps in restoring our lovely vintage lawn furniture. The first step, of course, is finding it. Our search takes us to all kinds of places and various types of sales. Wherever we go, I continue to notice one thing. People work really hard every day to improve the quality of their lives and their families’ lives. They have goals and dreams and often, few resources to make them happen. The people we meet are strong and resilient. They don’t quit. Like the day at an outdoor show when everyone returned for a third day of selling to encounter the results of a night of high winds and driving rain on their carefully covered merchandise. Everything was soaked, many valuable things were broken and spirits were low. After a brief assessment, they started packing up and moving on to the next step, the next place. There was no place to go but forward. We would like to honor the people whose paths we’ve crossed this past year, for their persistence, their independence, for their American dream. We hope the new year brings them success, good health and time to enjoy the fruits of their labors.
