Has anyone heard of the Charlotte Antiques and Collectibles Show at Metrolina Expo? It’s billed as a “Fun-filled Outdoor Marketplace” and that’s exactly what it is and more. The funnel cakes, the people, the stuff. What a day, or two or three! And what a find we got at our last visit. I’ve seen a lot of lovely vintage gliders, but this one was so lovely, I waited a while to go over to it. I kept glancing at it from afar, before I actually approached the vendor. We made a deal and it was mine. I was just looking at it again today and I noticed things I hadn’t seen before. Without the cushions, it looks like a piece of well-made machinery. The arm rests change positions, the back of the glider changes angles, it folds down to make a bed, there is a section that folds out to put a pillow on for your nap and there is a locking mechanism that will prevent it from gliding. Unbelievable. And they even went to the trouble to make it 2 colors, a soft green and white, even though you don’t immediately notice with the cushions on. The vinyl cushions themselves are original and lovingly repaired in places. I want so to keep them with the glider. We’ll see what the upholsterer says. I think they’re cool enough to keep, even with the repairs. I’m looking forward to showing it to you. So stay tuned!
